The Jackie McLean Jazz Studies Jazz Assembly Band
“What is Jazz?”

A presentation on these three eras in Jazz; Swing, Bebop and Hard Bop. Discussion will be on the evolution of the jazz soloist and will include the approach to common jazz progressions, frequent jazz phrases and solo techniques. This discussion is geared for middle school to high school jazz students with a basic understanding of major scales, minor scales and the blues scale.
