Free Music Lessons Program
We believe everyone deserves access to high-quality music education
Newport Festivals Foundation proudly offers free private music lessons for all Rhode Island students ages 9-18. Since 2023, over 230 students have received free music lessons.
The initiative allows students to receive ten, half-hour-long private lessons. We offer lessons at two locations:
Newport: At the Newport Music Shop, located on Bellevue Ave. Students can rent a free instrument for the duration of their lessons. Click here to register for Newport Lessons.
Providence: At the Providence School of Music, located on Waterman St. Click here to register for Providence Lessons.
*PLEASE NOTE* These lessons are intended for families/students who otherwise could not afford private music lessons. If you are able to afford lessons, please reach out to the shops directly.
Lessons will be offered in Piano, Guitar, Bass and Bass Guitar, Drums, Percussion, Ukulele, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Violin, Viola, and Cello.
Upon completing the form, you will be added to a waitlist. Once a spot opens up, you will be contacted to coordinate the day and time you’d like to start your lessons.
This program is made possible thanks to the support of The Gruben Charitable Foundation, the Joyce & George Wein Foundation and the Bazarsky Family Foundation.
