Newport Festivals Lecture Program

Bringing the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals into the Classroom

The Newport Festivals Lecture Program offers schools the opportunity to incorporate the Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals into their curriculums. Festival staff members provide engaging and educational lectures about various topics including:

  • Newport Jazz: 1954 – Today: The Cultural Impact of an American Institution
  • Newport Folk: 1959 – Today: The Music of The People
  • How to Make a Music Festival: The production and operations that go into running a music festival

If you are an educator and would like to request a lecture at your school, email info@newportfestivals.org

This program is free to all Title 1 public schools in Rhode Island. Private schools and universities are asked to pay a small stipend to cover speaker fees.
