George Wein founded our Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals in 1954 and 1959 respectively, as well as numerous other festivals across the world. George believed that every person, regardless of socioeconomic status, should have the opportunity to experience live music. In 2023, we created the George Wein Memorial Fund to honor George and help achieve his vision. Through this program, every senior from Rogers High School in Newport, RI is able to attend the Newport Jazz and Folk festivals free of charge. Our goal is to invite over 500 students from other high schools across the country.
